Info:
The route is entirely based in the Valle d'Aosta, divided into 6 stages over 245 kilometres and 6,300 metres of elevation gain. This is a difficult trek requiring a good level of training and technical proficiency. The recommended training is for at least 700-800 kilometers by mountain bike rides with high elevation gains (in line with the stages listed) and technically challenging trails.
Along the route you will be confronted with a range of surfaces including asphalt, unpaved roads and a net prevalence of cycle trails. Every day will include a memorable descent, and panoramas are an integral part of each day. Stopovers and breaks are organised in various, comfortable locations (hotels, refuges and farmhouse restaurants) with plenty of food prepared in traditional Valle d'Aosta style.
The second stage will include an afternoon off to take advantage of the splendid Prč Saint Didier health spa or to visit the village of Courmayeur. During the fifth stage it will be possible to visit the historical city centre of Aosta.
